To uplift marginal coastal communities through the sport of surfing by providing mentorship, coaching, equipment, training, and workshops, enabling surfers to grow and succeed beyond competitive surfing.

Waves of Giving: Empowering Surf Communities Through Youth Development

Waves of Giving is a community-building, surf-oriented youth development program designed to reach remote areas and nurture the grassroots surfing movement. Our goal is to support the growth of local surf communities and help develop a sustainable surf industry in underserved regions of the country. 

Through every STG Waves of Giving mission, we bring together some of the country’s top surf athletes to share their experiences and provide mentorship to youth in lesser-known surfing destinations. These communities often lack access to larger contests and opportunities to meet the athletes they admire, and our program helps bridge that gap. 

Our initiative also offers these surf communities the chance to try out state-of-the-art equipment, specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of the youth and their physical attributes. 

The program emphasizes the socioeconomic potential of surfing, focusing on foundational surf lessons, surf coaching, and surf tours. Surf athletes will share their personal journeys, discussing not only the challenges of pursuing a career in surfing but also the broader financial opportunities within the surf tourism industry. This knowledge empowers the next generation to explore the many roles that contribute to the growing global surf industry. 

STG Waves of Giving is an inclusive platform that unites government agencies, civic organizations, and corporate partners in creating a collective approach to the emerging surf tourism industry, fostering collaboration and sustainable growth.
